Welcome Dinner

The caravan was supposed to start off with a bang - and a welcome dinner. The first night we arrived we had some culture shock and started to get used to the way Mexican campgrounds are set up - water that isn’t safe to drink, unreliable electricity and sketchy dump stations for the most part. To top it all off, the leader of the caravan company told us that he wanted to delay our welcome dinner because our first stop did not have a suitable location to host us. Needless to say, that night was disappointing because we had dumped most of our food in preparation for crossing the border, we were stressed from driving in unfamiliar territory and we were just generally exhausted.

Tonight was the redemptive Welcome dinner in Mazatlan.  We loaded up in Pulmonías and went to one of the best restaurants in town. Each of us could order all of the food and drinks we wanted and they had a mariachi band and passed roses out to the ladies. Pradit ordered a meat platter for two and spent the whole evening finishing it.

It was a bonding evening for the group and we all sang and danced and had a great time. Tomorrow is our last full day in Mazatlan.
