Amarillo, Texas

We rolled into Amarillo and the sun was shining -- it was so nice to have some warmth!  We got settled and the kids played on the playground while Stu watched a football game.  I saw an authentic Texas tumbleweed as the wind picked up and took our cat playpen carrying bag off into a field nearby.

The kiddos showered and then we loaded up to have dinner at the Big Texan Steak Ranch.  The man at the table next to us was doing the one hour, 72 oz steak challenge.  Participants have one hour to eat a 72 oz steak, salad, potato, roll and shrimp appetizer.  They livestream the adventure on Youtube.  We left before he was finished, but it looks as though he was going to finish.  Wild!  Buster did great alone in the camper - we have a camera inside that we can use to monitor him -- he watched the football game and took a nap.

The Chiefs game was starting just as we got back, so we watched the game and cheered for our team and I did a quick load of laundry at the campground facility.  The next morning, we took our time getting ready to head out.  It was windy and chilly outside - that made breaking down camp feel like twice the amount of work but we finally finished just in time for checkout time.  Now it's off to Roswell, New Mexico!
